Description
Guided tour Eiffel Tower
Accompanied by a guide, who will recount to you throughout the visit numerous anecdotes, go behind the scenes of this staggering monument. You will enter first into the former bunker hidden under the Champ de Mars. A true privilege, you will then slip backstage to the surprising and impressive engine room of origin which still controls the elevators. Arriving next at the second floor, you will be greeted by the amazing and unusual view that awaits you. As a VIP, you ascend the roof of the prestigious restaurant Le Jules Verne to exclusively discover an unprecedented 360° panorama of Paris.
On the occasion of the World Fair in 1889, a major competition was launched in the Official Gazette. The challenge was to study the possibility of raising an iron tower on the Champ de Mars, with a square base of 125 sq. feet and 300 meters high. Chosen from among 107 projects, was that of Gustave Eiffel. The work lasted two years, 2 months and 5 days. Since its opening, visitors can access the floors of the monument via lifts, a veritable technical feat for its time. Carefully preserved, this exceptional structural heritage testifies, till date, to the visionary genius of Gustave Eiffel.

Opera Garnier - Paris
After hours tour of the Opera house's public areas (after the Opera shuts to the general public)
Who has not dreamt of being locked up in this Palace of a thousand secrets, such as the famous Phantom… of the Opera? Meandering through the artistic treasure that is the Opera Garnier, this is the unique feeling that will be offered to you by our guide. Loose yourself in its silent corridors, be amazed by its rich architecture and the abundant decor. The disconcerting Pythonisse will greet you before you take the majestic “Grand Escalier”, bringing you to the auditorium, the lounges and the foyers. A timeless classic guided tour.
In 1860, a contest was launched for the construction of a new opera house in Paris. It was young architect Charles Garnier's project which was unanimously adopted for its exuberant mix of ostentatious and eclectic baroque architecture. Today, the Palais Garnier undoubtedly embodies the architecture that best represents the art of the Second Empire, and stands as a symbol of the luxury and pleasures of the French capital. 73 sculptors and 14 painters worked on it until its inauguration in January 1875. Measuring 172m in length and 124m in breadth, the Opera Garnier is the largest opera house in Europe, with the capacity to welcome more than 2000 people.
The Palais Garnier, being a show site, for technical or artistic reasons, we cannot guarantee systematic access to the Auditorium.
Please present yourself before the doors shut to the public at 16:45.
This tour does not include a backstage tour of the Opera Garnier (premium offer proposed by the Opera Garnier itself).

Fondation Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent - Paris
** NOTE FROM THE PIERRE BERGE – YVES SAINT LAURENT FONDATION : « The library will be closed for renovation from 23rd April until 25th May 2012. » **
A guide will welcome you in the luxurious salons of the Foundation. As a true privilege, you will enter the studio of the great designer, where each collection was born. Your guide will narrate 1001 anecdotes while presenting several original sketches on which you would be able to read the annotations of Mr. Saint Laurent destined for the workshop. Emblematic haute couture prototypes will also be unveiled for you. Finally, it is in the rich library before the bibles of the YSL collection, that you will understand the functioning of such a fashion house.
Yves Saint Laurent sensed, better than any other designer, the movements of society. If Chanel gave liberty to women, Saint Laurent gave them power. By making use of masculine codes, he brought women security and audacity whilst accentuating their feminity.
40 years after opening their haute couture fashion house, Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge decided to create a foundation to « transform these memories into projects ». The Foundation set itself 3 objectives : The conservation of 5000 haute couture garments and 15000 accessories, sketches…, the organisation of exhibitions on fashion, paintings, photographs… and the support of cultural and educational projects.

Quartier St Germain-des-Prés - Paris
Naturally, since it is where it all began, you will start your visit with the Saint-Germain des Pres Church, the former sanctuary of the Merovingian kings. Then you will let yourself go with the “Cafe de Paris” flow, and pass by the Deux Magots and the Flore, where Prevert, Simone de Beauvoir and many others spent their days. You will see the Academy of Medicine, in charge of national public health, and then you will arrive at the Paris School of Fine Arts where you will be able to admire its sumptuous Cour d’Honneur (main courtyard). You will finish your visit by the Institut de France, which regroups several monuments and museums, and the Hotel de la Monnaie, where one can find coins dating from the French Revolution.
Known in the past as the "Saint-Germain borough", under Childebert, in the 6th century, the abbey progressively attracted inhabitants, and did not stop developing until the 17th century, when it became an artists’ haunt. Artists were therefore living together with the clergy, in a totally original way, until the French revolution. Delacroix, Racine and Balzac lived there, and in the 20th century, dramatists, writers, songwriters, photographs and painters continue to occupy the neighbourhood, identified as being dedicated to them. It’s at night, when the underground clubs resound with Jazz, that appears the existentialist movement, embodied by Jean-Paul Sartre, amongst others.
