TEMPORARY EXHIBITION : NAPOLEON N'EST PLUS
From Wednesday 15 April to Sunday 31 October 2021.
On the 200th anniversary of the death of Napoleon I, the Musée de l'Armée is offering an entire cultural season dedicated to this historic personality. Within this context, the temporary exhibit, "Napoleon Is No More" revisits the final moments of his life, glorified by some and a mystery to others.
Through this exhibit, the Musée de l'Armée gives you all the tools you'll need to decipher the many stories surrounding the emperor's death: archaeological, medical, chemical, historical sources and various relics... a multitude of clues that'll allow you to separate the historical facts from the legend that was built around May 5, 1821.
What were the exact circumstances of Napoleon's death? What's the relationship between the emperor and the Hôtel National des Invalides? What were the repercussions of his death? Your guide will give you all the answers to these questions via this educational visit. While Europe had to wait two months before learning of the emperor's death, visitors will have access from the exhibition's very first rooms to a multitude of relics from the event: works of art, a death mask, letters, maps, etc. Come discover this exceptional exposition and unwrap the secrets behind the emperor's death!
