Exhibition : Photography at war

Hôtel National des Invalides
The Photography at War exhibition explores the complex relationship between photography and war, from the first appearance of the medium on the battlefield to the present day.

Because of its immediacy and purported neutrality, photography is seen as the most appropriate medium for representing contemporary conflicts and the best ally of history. Yet the choices made by photographers, broadcasters and other media have a profound impact on the way we interpret war photographs.

This exhibition focuses on the resulting images as works of art, but also on the context in which they were created, distributed and perceived. Your tour guide will accompany you as you explore this important exhibition, which invites you to question the images of war through works and photographic documents produced by photographers and artists over the last century and a half.

On this occasion, the Musée de l'Armée is highlighting its exceptional photographic collection, which includes more than 60,000 images, most of which are little known.
