What was life like before history’s great inventions changed how we see and understand the world? Where do the roots of our modern society begin?

We live in a world where we are surrounded by amazing technology that we use every day, but the modern world is only a very recent concept. On this visit to the Musée des arts et métiers you can discover some of recent history’s most important inventions; Meyer’s bicycle, the Lumière Brothers’ cinematograph, Bell’s telephone, Nasmyths’ steam hammer, and much more.

For an hour and a half, your guide will tell the story of a revolutionary age of great discoveries, impressive innovations and technological milestones, and take you on a fantastic journey to the heart of the 19th century.

Museum closed Mondays
Purchase of a guided tour does not include the price of entry to the permanent exhibition: this must be purchased separately. A supplement of €50 is payable for groups visiting on Sundays, public holidays and during evenings.

Entry to the permanent exhibition is free on the first Sunday of each month, and on Friday evenings between 6pm and 9pm.
